Tours of the clinic, surgical suite, Xray, and Cat Condos (for boarding) will be given, with special exhibits about cat dentistry and surgery. Free catnip toys will be given to the first twenty-five people that attend, and cookies and cider refreshments will be available for all. Dr. Joann Young has seen over 900 cat patients (and over 600 clients!) since opening her feline-exclusive practice last year. The Cat Doctor of Dover, at 187 Watson Road (northwest of Week's Crossing), has been exceeding original projections since opening. Dr. Young provides high quality, state-of-the- art veterinary care for feline patients, from kittens to geriatric cats over 8 years of age. Her motto is "Let us give quality care to your cat family members," including consultation for behavioral and nutritional problems, and grief counseling is also available. Boarding in specialized Cat Condos (multi-level townhouses, with four-poster oak beds) is also available, with bird feeders right outside the boarding area to keep the lodging pets entertained. Grooming and bathing for cats requiring anesthesia is also performed at The Cat Doctor of Dover. Dr. Young also works closely with the Cocheco Valley Humane Society. She has received a Certificate of Appreciation from them for donating discounted spays and neuters, for cats available for adoption at the Humane Society. The clinic cat, "Gucci" (named for a Good, Used Cat) has also gotten a new playmate from the Humane Society, an orange tabby domestic longhaired kitten named "Mistoffelees" (from T. S. Eliot's Cats). Mr. Mistoffelees has been keeping Dr. Young's staff busy, helping out the receptionist Traci, from Madbury, answer the phone, the veterinary technician/nurse Sara from Rochester assist Dr. Young, and the office manager Jerry work on the computer. People planning to attend the open house are encouraged to visit The Cat Doctor of Dover's website at www.catdoctordover.com, or call 742-MEOW (742-6369) for further information. |
